After Mommy Makeover: Pregnancy and childbirth are beautiful things, but both cause changes to a woman’s body that can be difficult to undo. Many women struggle to return their bodies to their pre-pregnancy condition, and some eventually turn to plastic surgery for help.

That’s because even if you diet and exercise after pregnancy, there still can be parts of your body that don’t bounce back to how they looked before. That’s where a mommy makeover can help you achieve the look you want.

A mommy makeover includes various procedures for women after pregnancy and may include San Antonio liposuction, a San Antonio breast lift, San Antonio breast augmentation, San Antonio tummy tuck, and others.

A mommy makeover can give you the appearance and contours you have wanted for years. But what about the recovery? How much help will you need after your procedure?

Recovery After Mommy Makeover

There are advantages to combining several cosmetic procedures into one. While you will have a longer recovery with several procedures done together, you can get all of your recovery done at once. If you have four or five separate procedures, that would be four or five different recovery periods.

And, doing all your procedures in one mommy makeover procedure is more cost-effective.

In the first few weeks after your mommy makeover, your plastic surgeon will want you to come in for follow-up appointments. Make sure you get to your appointments because these ensure that your recovery and healing are going well. Many mommy makeover procedures, such as a tummy tuck, require extensive recovery.

Generally, you can expect to be limited in your activities for two or three weeks after a mommy makeover; most of these procedures involve breast and abdominal work that takes time to recover from.

The level of pain and discomfort you feel after mommy makeover depends on what was done and your pain tolerance. Many factors will make your recovery and healing process different from others. But there are several guidelines to keep in mind as you recover.

Ask For Help After Mommy Makeover

Most mommy makeover procedures require you to get help from friends or family for a week or two, at least. Most women need help moving around for the first day or two after a mommy makeover. So, it will be challenging to do your usual day-to-day self-care for a few days, including bathing, cooking, and even getting out of bed without assistance in some cases.

Also, you’ll be moving slower for the first two weeks or so after your procedure, so you will need help with your young children for a while. Whether you lean on your partner or friends and family, you’ll need more help. The last thing you want is to do too much and have problems with your incisions and recovery.

Having help for at least two weeks after your mommy makeover will help you to recover faster. So, have your partner, friend, or family member help you as you recover and heal. This means you need to have these arrangements set up well before you have your mommy makeover.

You also need to tell your employer that you’ll need at least two weeks off work to recover. But if you work from home, you may be able to do some limited work after resting for a few days.

If your surgeon gives you pain medication that are controlled substances, you won’t be able to drive for at least a few days. After the first week, most surgeons recommend Advil or Motrin for pain and discomfort.

And if you had a tummy tuck, you will need to stay bent over for about 14 days to allow the incisions to heal. So, having help with your children will be even more vital in this case.

Follow Your Surgeon’s Instructions

When you have several procedures at once, following your surgeon’s post-care instructions are even more critical. The most common reason women have problems after a mommy makeover is they try to do too much and ignore their surgeon’s instructions.

And be sure to go to your follow-up appointments so your surgeon can check your incisions to ensure there are no complications.

Don’t Try To Do It All

Many mothers try to do it all for themselves and their children, but after a mommy makeover, take some time for yourself. You did your procedure to improve how you look and probably to give your self-esteem a lift. So, take maximum advantage of the procedures by resting and ensuring that you heal correctly.

Don’t try to get back to all your regular activities too quickly, including caring for children; this never works out well. You can delay your recovery and cause complications if you try to take n too much.

With proper rest and recovery, you’ll be back to your routine after a month or so.
