He has devoted years of his life to master the most advanced surgical skills, and is a board-certified, fellowship-trained plastic and reconstructive surgeon, with a sub-specialty in craniofacial aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. Besides having impeccable surgical acumen and technical skill, Dr. Farber has a natural eye for beauty and balance — an instinctual talent that cannot be taught.

A meticulous approach to plastic surgery: Dr. Farber

Dr. Farber performs custom surgeries for the face, breast, and body. His specialties include a combination of both aesthetic and reconstructive procedures.

He performs all aspects of facial rejuvenation and aesthetic surgery – facelift, neck lift, mini-facelift, rhinoplasty (nose job), eyelid rejuvenation, ear surgery, and custom-designed facial implant and chin implant surgery.

He also performs breast and body surgery, including breast augmentation, liposuction, tummy tuck, and mommy makeovers. 

Dr. Farber also specializes in reconstructive plastic surgery, which includes trauma and cancer reconstruction for face and body.

Education

Dr. Scott J Farber graduated from Downstate College of Medicine in New York City. He completed his combined general surgery and plastic and reconstructive training at Washington University in St. Louis, one of the most rigorous and competitive training programs in the country. He was chosen to serve as chief resident during his final year of training. During this time, Dr. Farber was able to learn from some of the world’s most prestigious mentors, pioneers, and leaders in all fields of plastic surgery.

Advanced surgical training

Dr. Scott J Farber subsequently pursued additional specialized training in cranio-maxillofacial aesthetic and reconstructive surgery with world-renowned mentors at New York University Langone Hospital in Manhattan, New York. It was during this time that Dr. Farber was one of the surgeons involved in one of the world’s most extensive and successful face transplants. During this time, Dr. Farber also served as a clinical instructor of surgery at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, teaching plastic surgery techniques and principles to surgical residents and medical students.

Dr. Farber then moved to San Antonio, where he spent over two years as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the plastic surgery residency program here at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio Long School of Medicine. He taught the full scope of the techniques in modern plastic surgery to residents and medical students.

Dr. Farber is an officer in the United States Navy Reserve, where, when deployed, he utilized his surgical and medical acumen to help injured members of the Armed Forces in reconstructive plastic surgery for the wounded warriors at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

He continues to be academically oriented and is committed to providing his patients with the most current, evidence-based care and surgical techniques. He remains active in clinical research and has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles and a book chapter.
