Ready to have sculpted, youthful thighs?

A thigh lift is a surgical procedure that removes excess loose skin from the thighs to improve the shape of the thighs. The procedure can be combined with liposuction to remove excess fat, but the best results are found in patients who have optimized their weight loss and are at a stable weight.

How is a thigh lift performed?

There are multiple techniques for thigh lifts. The type of thigh lift you need is determined by the amount and location of the excess skin, and the incisions used for the procedure depend on what areas you would like to be addressed.

  • The most common area treated is the area of the thigh between the legs, also known as the medial thigh. For a thigh lift, the most common incision is in the groin, wrapping towards the back and extending down the inside of the leg.
  • If you have excess skin on the outside of the thigh (lateral thigh), the incision along the groin may be extended around the hip.
  • Patients with a small amount of excess skin near the groin may be a candidate for a medial thigh lift where the incision is only along the groin crease.
  • Sometimes, the lateral thigh lift is combined with a buttock lift. A thigh lift in San Antonio, at Hill Country, can be combined with other procedures.

Planning your journey to slim, youthful thighs

What to expect during your thigh lift consultation?

We will start by discussing your surgical goals to determine if a thigh lift is a right procedure for you. We will review your medical history, surgical history, drug allergies, current medications including vitamins and herbal supplements, nutrition, alcohol, tobacco, and drug use, and family history. It is very important that we obtain accurate information in all areas as it may impact the outcome of your surgery.

Other information we will need to know is your current weight loss program, if any, and how long your weight has been stable. If you had prior weight loss surgery, information from your bariatric surgeon would be reviewed. We will examine and measure your body to help develop a personalized treatment plan for your thigh lift in San Antonio. If you have medical conditions, you may need to get clearance from your doctor before undergoing surgery.

Once we identify your concerns and surgical goals, we will discuss all treatment options available for your thigh to you. Every patient is unique, and we will develop a tailored surgical plan that addresses your specific goals. While discussing different treatment options, we will perform a physical exam and take the measurements necessary for planning for your surgery. Pre-operative (before surgery) photos will be taken either at your initial consultation or during your pre-operative visit.

What happens after my thigh lift consultation?

After your consultation, you will receive access to your notes on the patient portal in addition to information about your specific surgery. If you have not activated your patient portal, this can be done at your appointment by asking any of our staff to assist you. If you have questions after your appointment, you can contact our office or message us through the patient portal. Some patients will require medical clearance from their primary care physician or a specialist or additional tests before undergoing surgery. Once you have determined that you would like to have surgery and have completed any clearances and tests that were requested, contact our office at (210) 658-3555 to schedule a pre-operative appointment with one of our surgeons.

How to prepare for your thigh lift surgery

Prior to surgery, you should not take aspirin for one week before surgery, and you should stop any nicotine products, which include cigarettes, vaping, gum, and patches, for at least 4 weeks prior to surgery. If you have a history of medical problems, we may have you undergo clearance by your primary care physician or any pertinent specialists.

You should plan to take 1-2 weeks off after surgery, depending on the activity level of your job. Your follow-up and post-operative instructions will be discussed with you at your pre-operative appointment.
