What is a labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty involves reshaping the labia majora (outer lips) and/or labia minora (inner lips) by removing excess skin. It is normal to have asymmetric labia or labia minora extending outside the labia majora. However, if there is chronic irritation, chafing, pain during sex, or tears to the vulvar skin, a labiaplasty can help alleviate these issues.

There are two main techniques for labia minora reduction

  • Trim - the labia are cut and closed along one edge
  • Wedge resection - a wedge of tissue is removed, and the edges are brought together with dissolvable sutures.

During your consultation, we will perform an examination. Based on your anatomy and sensation in that area we recommend which labiaplasty in San Antonio will suit you best.
