The surgery is performed while you are awake, as it requires only local anesthesia. This custom procedure can enhance the appearance of the upper lip for the long term – no more need for fillers. It is a more definitive correction to the contour of the upper lip.

What does a lip lift do?

  • Shortens the lip length between nose and mouth
  • Increases the visibility of your upper teeth
  • Shortens the perceived length of the lower mid-face
  • Turns the Cupid’s Bow upwards and increases upper lip volume
  • Creates subtle improvement at the corners of the mouth
  • Can make the lips and lower face appear much younger
  • Improves the definition of the philtra columns (the vertical ridges above the lips that connect to the underside of the nose)
  • Decreases need for fillers
  • Creates a more youthful facial balance

Who is a good candidate for a lip lift?

As you age, the upper lip loses volume, and the tissues stretch, increasing the distance between the nose and upper lip. Lip lifting helps restore a more youthful facial balance and natural book and improves the definition of the upper lip. For patients who have distorted their upper lip from too much filler, lip augmentation in San Antonio by Hill Country can provide a more natural-looking, fuller, and defined upper lip.

How is a lip lift performed?

An incision is made directly under the contour of your nose, where a small amount of skin is removed. The lip is then lifted meticulously and sutured into place, with the final incision hidden in the junction between the nose and upper lip skin.

Prior to your consultation, we recommend that you review the procedures on our website so you are familiar with the terms we will be using during our discussion. Once we identify your concerns and surgical goals, we will discuss all the treatment options that are available to you. Every patient is unique, and we will develop a tailored surgical plan that addresses your specific goals.

In addition, we will thoroughly review your medical history, surgical history, medications, allergies, family medical history, and other important details. It is very important that we obtain accurate information in all these areas as it may impact the outcome of your surgery. While discussing different treatment options, we will perform a physical exam and take measurements that are necessary for planning for your surgery. If you have questions after your appointment, you can contact our office or message us through the patient portal.
