The Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures Kim Kardashian and other social media sensations show off their larger, rounder rear ends. Many patients are interested in improving the appearance of their buttocks, and BBL is an effective way to make positive changes.

You may have many questions about a Brazilian butt lift, such as what the results will appear in five years or 10 years. Below is essential information to consider if you’re thinking about a BBL.

BBL Overview

A Brazilian butt lift is a natural way to increase the butt’s volume and shape. The procedure removes fat from the abdomen or other problem area with liposuction. Then the surgeon washes and processes the fat before injecting it into the buttocks.

Many patients love BBL because it lets them have two procedures at once. Other popular surgeries to consider are a tummy tuck, leg lift, and arm lift.

How Long Do BBL Results Last?

After the BBL procedure, you will need to go home and rest for at least one or two weeks. Remember that the surgeon will slightly overfill the buttocks with fat because up to 40% may not survive the transfer.

During this early recovery period, some of the fat may not develop a sufficient blood supply and will die. Don’t worry because the fat that doesn’t survive will simply be absorbed by the body.

After the first two weeks, the rest of the fat will begin to regenerate and produce new cells. This is what gives the rear a bigger, fuller appearance. After three to six months, your recovery will be complete and the buttocks reach their final size.

If you follow your doctor’s instructions and the BBL tips later in this article, your results will last at least five years and possibly 10 or more. Most BBL patients enjoy outstanding results with their procedure for many years.

Tips To Maximize BBL Results

There are many proven ways to improve, enhance and maximize your Brazilian butt lift results. It’s especially important to follow the tips below in the first few months of the procedure.

No Direct Contact

The first tip is an absolute must if you want your BBL results to last at least five years: Don’t sit directly on your rear or sleep on your back for at least two weeks.

The injected fat is delicate and needs time to settle in and develop a blood supply. Sitting or sleeping on the rear will damage the grafted fat and make them move or die.

A body pillow can keep you positioned on your side at night, and a donut pillow can be used to sit in a chair for brief periods during the day. Ideally, sit on your rear as little as possible during this critical period. A standing desk can help a lot if you have an office job.

Eat A Healthy Diet

Any time you have surgery, it’s important to consume a healthy diet so the body can heal. Eat a lot of healthy fats, including nuts, salmon, and avocados, and avoid processed foods and sugary and salty snacks and drinks.

Also, drink a lot of water so your body can flush toxins and heal.

Keep A Steady Weight

If you want to maintain BBL results for five or more years, it’s essential to keep a stable weight. Unfortunately, some patients gain or lose weight after their procedure and it can negatively affect the results.

You should eat healthily and exercise to stay at a steady weight so your results last for many years. If you want to gain or lose weight, you should do so before having the procedure.

People who have weight fluctuations after surgery usually have subpar results that require another procedure.

Wear Proper Clothes

After the procedure, you will go home in a special compression garment to reduce swelling and increase blood circulation. Wear the compression garment as long as your surgeon recommends – usually four to six weeks. It can be removed briefly when showering.

Avoid wearing loose clothing because they won’t lower blood flow and let the new fat take hold.

Don’t Smoke

Smoking is one of the worst habits for your body and it’s especially bad before and after surgery. Tobacco and nicotine use constrict your blood vessels and make the healing process more difficult.

You should stop smoking at least two months before and after the BBL. Many patients use the surgery as a chance to stop smoking completely.

Resume Exercise Slowly

Surgeons usually advise only walking for exercise in the first six to eight weeks after BBL. Light activities improve blood flow and reduce inflammation.

Don’t be tempted to do too much exercise too soon. Vigorous exercise in the first few weeks can affect your results.

Build Leg And Butt Muscles

After you have fully recovered and the surgeon gives the green light, you should do leg and gluteal weightlifting at the gym. Working this area brings more circulation to the butt and can enhance your results.

Some of the exercises you can do include deadlifts, squats, box jumps, and lunges. Doing these exercises a few times per week should keep your rear perky for many years.

If you’re like most of us, increasing the size of the rear is difficult no matter how many leg and rear exercises you do. A BBL can give you the butt of your dreams and it can last for many years, if you follow these guidelines.
